How to Choose Brush Size and Quantity?
Brush sizes are the same as cannula sizes. For a 3mm cannula, select a 3mm brush, etc.
Quantity depends on whether you plan on discarding, or cleaning and reusing your brushes.
If you plan on cleaning and reusing your brushes, order at least 10 of each size and discard them according to criteria that your practice has established for determining that your brushes are no longer adequate for continued use.
If you plan discarding your cleaning brushes after each use, order enough to handle your estimated case load and order 10 percent more just in case you exceed your estimate.
NOTE: Many accrediting bodies require specific protocols and documentation for maintaining and cleaning your cleaning brushes. Most surgical practices choose to discard brushes after each use for maximum patient safety and compliance peace of mind.
